Darlene and the Mechanical Marshal
Accused of murder at eighty, Darlene talks the ancient robot marshal into one bargain: let her prove her innocence.
Drafting
Darlene is eighty years old and accused of murder. When an old robot marshal rides in to take her to justice, she does the one thing she still can. She talks.
She gets it to agree to a deal: give her the time to prove she didn’t do it. A dusty, tender weird-western, still taking shape.
This is a story I’ve been wanting to work on for a while now. I’m thinking of using it as my first novel on HoneyFeed. Their contest gives me a fun deadline to work towards and forces me to get my work out there. Maybe I’ll change the title to something a little more light-novel-esque like The Robot Marshal is Arresting Me for Murder but I’m Just an 80-Year-Old Senior Citizen!
